Introduction
The questing simulator is something that a lot of people struggle to use not because it’s hard, but because they perceive it as hard. Once you’ve read this article, you’ll see how easy it really is to use it.
I also have a tips & tricks section that will help you truly optimize this tool to the max! Things such as setting up a ready to go sim quickly, things to look out for, etc!
Basics of the Quest Sim
I just want to start by saying that you need to use the online version of the quest sim in your browser, if you download it then it will NOT work. Also, if you already know how to use the quest sim and just want to know what changes to make to test heroes, go to this section.

Pages to Focus on
Quest Sim

This page is the main page for the quest simulator. You only need to focus on the parts circled in pink. I will expand on each of them below.

This is where you can select whether you want to use a hero/champion from the Hero 1/2/3/4/5 Tabs or from an exported hero (Explained in the Hero Tab Section)

At first, you may notice that you have Hero 6/7/8/9… to pick from
That’s because you can export a hero you created into Hero 6/7/8/9… and then rename them in the Hero data page.(Explained in the Hero Tab Section)

Power Booster: This lets you test with or without power boosters against the content you are facing.
Mini Boss: Every non-boss and non-flash quest has a chance of spawning in a mini boss (Roughly 2%) and there are 5 variations. This will let you select if you’re going against a mini boss or regular quest
Quest Zone: This lets you select which dungeon your team will be going up against.
Quest Difficulty: This lets you select the difficulty of the quest you are doing which can be either easy, medium, hard, or extreme.
Barrier: This only matters for extreme quests. It will simulate having a barrier so if you do not meet the elemental requirements for the barrier, you will deal 80% less damage in that quest. A common mistake people make is not having enough elements to handle the barrier which results in a quest success rate of 0%

Quest Success Rate: Arguably the most important stat which is your quest success rate against the dungeon you tested on. This number is obtained from 50,000 simulated runs on the quest zone compared to the 20 runs simulated by the in game faces.
Survival Rate: This shows the survival rate of the hero/champion you bring along. Out of 50,000 tested runs, how many of those did this hero/champion survive? As for the other stats, this is a basic guide so we won’t touch on them.
Hero Data

There’s nothing much for you to do in this page. The only thing you should do is to rename “Hero 6”, “Hero 7” onwards to the name of your heroes.
You can do this by typing in the name of your heroes into the column circled in pink! Take note to only do this for Hero 6 onwards!
Here’s a video example!

You can rename your heroes anytime you want! Renaming them also properly reflects everywhere that used to reference Hero 6/7/8/9/…/60
Hero 1/2/3/4/5

This page may look overwhelming or complicated at first but don’t worry, it is very simple! All you want to do is to set the heroes level, seed count, equipment, skills. That’s it. How can we do that?
You just need to look at all the blue cells while ignoring everything else. These are the things you want to change! I will break them down part by part.
Let’s start from the top of the page and work our way down.

This part just wants you to select if the hero is a Red/Green/Blue type hero and if they are promoted

Ignore the red crosses, those will be covered in the “Export Sim String” section.
Focus on the pink circle. This is where you select the hero class

Ignore these as they will be covered in the “Import Sim String” section

This is where you select your equipment. Click on the small arrows for each cell to see a list of options.
Note: Dual Wields do not appear as “Dual Wields” but rather as part of the weapon they are. Refer to this part for the explanation.
Can’t find an item? Refer here.

This is where you set the equipment quality, elements tier, element type, spirits. You can do it quickly using the “Set All” buttons at the top.
This is a drop-down list so you can just click on it and see what appears.

This is where you set the skills of your hero.
Can’t find a skill? The sim only accepts T1 names of skills and if your hero can’t use that skill, it won’t be shown.

Refer to the blue cells and replace them with your hero levels & seeds.
If you want to test a theoretical hero, set it to level 40 with 40 of each seed as a baseline.

This part lets you pick your quest zone to see how many hits your hero can tank against the monster you picked.

This part shows the final stats of your heroes which should be accurate to what you have in game. If it is off by a few points, you can think of it as Kabam rounding.
Turn on the extra stats circled in pink to see the average damage the hero deals.
Special note: If you’re testing for a ninja, their innate does not show up in the final stats here (It still works in quest sim)
Common Problems

Problem: Unable to find dual wields
Solution: Dual wields appear as part of the weapon they are. For example, titan admiral arms are part sword & dagger so it will be listed under “Sword” category as well as “Dagger” category.

Problem: Can’t find an item
Solution: Your item is likely being filtered out by the item filter.
If you still can’t find it, then it isn’t in the sim, and you should go to our discord and send a message in #hero-sim-stuff

How to Update Quest Sim & Migrate Data
Quest simulator got an update and you’re wondering how to update it to the latest version? Sorry, but you’ll need to create a new copy of the quest sim (This is not a joke)
“But, I already exported all my heroes! Do I need to redo it all over again!?”
“Do I need to copy the sim string one by one to move it over to the new version!?”
Don’t worry! You can move everything there really quickly! This is a video guide to show you how!
Can’t watch the video? Basically, just copy the hero data page from your old sim to the new one
Sim Strings
How to Import

This is what we call a “sim string”. You don’t need to understand how to read it, all you need to do is to copy the exact message then paste it in the section circled below!

If you do that, then it will automatically recreate the hero after a few seconds! Refer to the video below!
Sample String
Yes|Red Type|Lord|Sword|Heavy Armor|Gauntlets|Helmet|Heavy Footwear|Shield|Titan Admiral Arms (ATK/HP) – T15|Teddy Bear Body (DEF/HP) – T15|Titan Gauntlets (DEF/HP) – T14|Argon’s Helm (DEF/HP) – T14|Rock Stompers (DEF/HP) – T14|Argon’s Shield (DEF/HP) – T14|Flawless|Flawless|Flawless|Flawless|Flawless|Flawless|35 / Tier 14|35 / Tier 14|35 / Tier 14|35 / Tier 14|35 / Tier 14|35 / Tier 14|Mammoth Spirit (+10%DEF +10 Threat)|Mammoth Spirit (+10%DEF +10 Threat)|Mammoth Spirit (+10%DEF +10 Threat)|Mammoth Spirit (+10%DEF +10 Threat)|Mammoth Spirit (+10%DEF +10 Threat)|Mammoth Spirit (+10%DEF +10 Threat)|Impervious (+80% HP & +150 HP)|Perfect Form (+150% ATK & +50% DEF)|Extra Plating (+150% DEF & +40% HP)|Warlord|40|40|40|40|Light|Light|Light|Light|Light|Light
How to Export
Export Sim String to Send Others
Now that you know what a sim string is & how to import them, how can you create your own and send it to other people to use it? Do you just have to figure out the format and rewrite it? Good heavens, no! You can export them just by copying the cell you see in the image below!

Demonstration
Want to share equipment only? That’s doable!

String:
Yes|Green Type|Acrobat|Dagger|Light Armor|Rogue Hat|Gloves|Light Footwear|Idol|Titan Admiral Arms (ATK/HP) – T15|Sia’s Fancy Outfit (DEF/EVA) – T15|Scavenger’s Goggles (DEF/EVA) – T15|Titan Admiral Gloves (DEF/HP) – T15|Slathered Slippers (DEF/EVA) – T15|Ancient Statuette (DEF/HP) – T15|||||||||||||||||||||||40|40|40|40|||||||
Want to share the skills only? Totally fine too!

String:
Yes|Green Type|Acrobat|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||Assassinate (+120% ATK & +100% Crit Damage)|Warlord|Cloak & Dagger (+120% DEF & +12% EVA)|Dance of Blades (+150% ATK & +12% EVA)|40|40|40|40|||||||
The export string will automatically change based on the variables you have set for your hero! Just be sure to wait a few seconds after you make changes for the export string to update!
Export Hero to Hero Data
Already created your hero in Hero 1 and want to reuse it for next time? You can export it to Hero Data! That will save the hero you just created so you can use it anytime you want! You can even export to heroes that you already named in Hero Data!

After you select the hero you want to override, give it a few seconds and it will save your hero there!

How to use it well
Quick way to check changes
This is a quick method to check if the changes you made are good or not. This method uses the individual sim which good enough but won’t be the most optimal solution.
Also note that you should NOT be using this method to test skills/equipment with healing/evasion. The individual sim does NOT account for evasion and you want to be using the quest sim for that.
For the best test, set up three heroes with a champion then check the full quest sim.

These are the cells you want to pay attention to!

Attackers:
– Average Damage: did it go up or down?
– Rounds Survived: do you survive an extra round or not? (Note that Evasion is not considered here so you may need to check the main Quest Sim tab)
– If the answer to those is your average damage went down + didn’t let you survive an extra hit then it’s a bad change.
– If your average damage went up but cost you a round, check the quest sim
Tanks:
– Rounds Survived is the most important stat
– Average Damage is very handy to try and increase if the Rounds Survived stat is obscenely high (say 25+)
Hybrid attackers/tanks
– Hard to judge exactly for every situation, but you’ll want to play around until you get a good mix of Average Damage & Rounds Survived
Accurate way to check changes
The short answer is to use the quest simulator. It is the most accurate way to check for changes made.
Here is a quick tip from me, import your heroes into Hero 1/2/3 instead of using them directly in the quest sim, check for the success rate for your team and note it down. Make changes in Hero 1/2/3 then check for the quest success rate

Great post thanks 👍
Thank you!, my main issue with the sim is that i dont know how to properly check what to upgrade on a single character, for example, lets say i want to test changing one skill of a character, whats the best way to do it? try to simulate a solo quest?
I would highly recommend setting up all your heroes into the quest data, then import them into Hero 1/2/3 & Champion 1. Make sure to have the quest sim setup with Hero 1/2/3 & Champion 1.
Test out the first setup against a quest of your choosing then note down the quest success rate. Make changes to the hero in Hero 1/2/3 and then note down the success rate again
I actually illustrated this method in the “Quick way to Check Changes” section at the very end titled “Detailed Demonstration”!
Yes you did perfectly and i didn’t see it, sorry and thank you very much
Thanks for the breakdown, Yuki! Was playing around a bit with it, after you gave me advice on how to equip my heroes to beat one of the flash quests. Figured I can play around with new equipment via Hero1/2/3 and then on the quest tab simply switch between Hero1/2/3 and e.g. Hero 6/7/8 to quickly see the difference between my current gear and the potential new outfit – without overwriting my saved data
Yup! Exactly that! You could also rename the heroes in hero data to make them match your actual heroes in game!
