Impackt: Cursed King II

We don’t speak of Valdora ’round these parts

Mega Pack

Cursed King’s Helm (T15 Helmet)
Dark Oath (T6 Spell)
Cursed King’s Banquet (Indoor Decoration)
Valdoran Standard (Outdoor Decoration)
Valdoran Dress / Valdoran Veil (Avatar Items)

Blueprint

From a crafting perspective

Dark Oath has that slightly wonky resource combo of Herb / Leather / Oil that a lot of lower tier Spells tend to have. It’s relatively normal for this item line but still can be a little tricky to work into your rotation. Otherwise it’s a very normal craft.

Dark Oath is a Spell with CHC on it and an element Affinity. That makes it an extremely powerful DI item, although surprisingly not as potent as you would think. It’s equal to the T7 Firework Bundle, which is still pretty good. If you haven’t unlocked Grimoire Aeternum (T9 baseline Spell) yet, this is a fantastic craft.

From a meta perspective

This is the first Spell item we’ve gotten that has crit chance on it. That’s exciting from a meta development because it means the floodgates have opened and we might get more moving forward. That said, we likely won’t get a current tier CHC Spell for a while.

As far as actual use cases go, eh? Dark Oath is in that weird middleground for a lot of lower tier items where the stat combo is fantastic on offense, but your levelling heroes generally want defensive strength to actually survive the quest. That said, CHC is great for Power so this item can be good for artificially boosting that stat to let your levelling Spellcasters (and DKs) enter harder quests.

From a crafting perspective

As with a lot of pack items lately, Cursed King’s Helm uses a nearly identical resource combo to its baseline crafted counterpart. The component cost is cheaper than Behemoth Helm at least, and the Timewarped component can be reduced to three. Essence cost is the usual for this tier: base 11, reduced to 9 via Ascension.

This is a really good choice for DI. It’s in the top 10 for Miscellaneous Armor due to being a Helmet with Attack on it. If you missed the recent packs that had Princely Turban, Scavenger Goggles, or Slathered Slippers, then this is a great option.

From a meta perspective

Attack secondary heavy armor items are automatically really niche due to Fighters mainly needing bulk from their armor. It can be a great choice for Spellblades (but not Spellknights because Pyroclastic Crown exists). If you’re already using Hercules Horn then this is a direct upgrade, otherwise skip it.

Superior Pack

Cursed King’s Might (T15 Gauntlets)
Ruler’s Feast (T15 Meal)
Cursed Cupboard / Cursed Fireplace (Indoor Decorations)
Tiles of Valdora / Halls of Valdora (Flooring / Wallpaper)

Blueprints

From a crafting perspective

About the only thing that differentiates Cursed King’s Might from the Pneumatic Gauntlets we got a few packs ago is that it uses six Cinderlake components instead of three Timewarped components and that the resource cost is slightly more expensive. That’s about it.

For DI, this occupies the same Misc Armor category as Cursed King’s Helm in the Mega pack but is worse. There is no reason to craft this for that event.

From a Meta perspective

We’ve got our requisite HP secondary Gauntlet item for the T15 tier. If your tank is currently using Titan Gauntlets and you can get the Titan affinity from something else like Titan Admiral Arms, then it’s worth swapping over to these. If you still need the Titan affinity, then consider keeping those gauntlets. That Affinity boost is really useful.

From a crafting perspective

Ruler’s Feast requires a little more resources than the average Herb item due to being a Meal. Otherwise it’s basically identical to Dino Nuggies (yummy!) with the exception of swapping the 3x Timewarped component to 4x (can be knocked down to 2x) Elysium component.

DI, Accessory, you know the drill.

From a Meta perspective

Attack secondary Meal items are decent options if you need a little more Attack and Defense. If you’re using Troublin Bento, then swap to this: it’s a direct upgrade. Otherwise you probably have better options.

Summary

  • Crafts are nothing unusual or particularly interesting. Their crafting costs are basically identical to baseline with slightly cheaper components. Usage-wise one item is new BiS if you can get a Titan affinity from elsewhere and the other three are decent but niche.
  • CHC Spell means we now have the possibility of getting a current tier Spell with this secondary stat because warlocks needed more help.
  • Rule over your kingdom with an iron fist and in style that says “It’s not a phase, mom.”

Final Score

Mega Pack: 7/10
Superior Pack: 8/10
