While it’s not amazing for Ascension fodder (T9 tends to be a little too high to really be good for that), this is a surprisingly good lower tier option for both crafting and actual use. The Jewel cost can be completely removed via mastery and Ascension and the component cost isn’t too bad.

Hero-wise, it’s always great to get HP secondary items that fill a gap in an item tier and this one is no exception. It’s especially great since this is a primarily tank item.

From a crafting perspective

Metal item again, yadda yadda. It doesn’t use T2 resources similar to some of the other items we’ve been getting lately which can be nice. Component cost is fairly steep, requiring a whopping 12 Boreal Gale so you might be making friends with the Harpy boss if you want to craft this. Upside at least is that it doesn’t require any Elysium components. Essence cost is the pretty typical 6 after Ascension.

It’s a strong option for DI crafting and is the new #2 Body Armor as well.

From a meta perspective

This one is a bit weird. We finally have a premium HP secondary Heavy Armor item for tanks, but Armor of Invincibility exists to do that same job better. If you’re using another Artifact (notably Rock Stompers, but maybe Kiku or Wyrmbane Cannon), then this is great and a direct upgrade over the CM-73 Frame they’re probably still wearing. If you’re not using an Artifact item already, then this isn’t quite as good as Armor of Invincibility – although it’s a good choice for a slightly less expensive alternative.

Superior Pack

Fimbulwinter Boots (T14 Heavy Footwear)
Ice Walls (Wallpaper)
Powder Snow (Flooring)

Blueprints

From a crafting perspective

Slightly higher than average Essence cost with nine (reduced to seven with Ascension), but otherwise most of what was said about the Plate above applies here as well.

Not amazing for DI crafting, but it’s in the top 10 Miscellaneous Armor items at least.

From a Meta perspective

This item is extremely niche. Attack secondary on heavy armor items is always pretty hard to use by itself, but this is also an item that we already have in this tier. If your offensive Fighter isn’t already using Tyrant’s Wake and doesn’t need the survivability from Rock Stompers / Magmacore Greaves, then this will be a nice upgrade for them. Otherwise, skip it.

Samurai however are pretty happy as the Affinity is a nice extra bonus.

Flooring/Wallpaper

Summary

  • Visual design is fantastic, practical design leaves a lot to be desired.
  • One extremely niche item, one that works well but has some competition with Artifacts.
  • You don’t understand how hard it was to not quote Mr. Freeze from Batman & Robin for that tagline

Final Score

Mega Pack: 5/10
Superior Pack: 3/10

Off-topic, but just a heads up that my newer guildies are reporting the VETERAN code as expired, if you all want to update the promo codes page to reflect that.
