Impackt: Heavy Metal

I wanna ROCK! (rock!)

Mega Pack

Electrifying Microphone (T14 Dagger)
Scream Amplifier (T10 Spear)
Drum Set (Indoor Decoration)
Stage Lights (Outdoor Decoration)
Metalhead Jacket / The Rocker (Avatar Items)

Blueprints

Scream Amplifier is a bit unusual for being a Metal / Ether item in a line that’s primarily Wood / Jewel, but it’s a pretty good craft overall. The component cost is a bit expensive requiring a hefty eight Spooky Ectoplasm and the Ether cost is a little high. Still, it only needs four total materials which is good.

Stat-wise, it’s a Spear. This is one of the weakest weapon lines and very few classes can actually use them so it’s in pretty Bad Company. It’s the best T10 Spear however, so if you find one of your levelling heroes needing this very specific item combination, they’ll be happy.

Interesting note: this is the first instance we have of a T10 item being the “low” tier option in a premium pack. We’ll have to see if this is an outlier or the new normal moving forward.

From a crafting perspective

Electrifying Microphone only has four materials as well and the Essence cost can drop to a very reasonable 6 with Ascension. Ether and Steel can also get knocked down through Ascension and Mastery respectively. This is a great Steel craft if you’re looking for a new one. If you didn’t pick up the metal-heavy Paladin pack we just had, this one will certainly Warrant consideration for your crafting rotation.

Being a weapon with a hefty 10% CHC, this is a phenomenal DI item (even though the Attack is on the lower end). Only Wyrmbane Cannon beats it, and that item cheats – its entire deal is being great in DI.

From a meta perspective

Electrifying Microphone is the latest in a long line of Daggers with a great secondary CHC stat. It’s a direct upgrade over The Final Death (including the Affinity!) so crit-based Warlocks are feeling pretty Big, Mr.. Any other Dagger user who likes crits will really appreciate this one as well.

There is one important caveat however. We recently got an official announcement that T15 is on the way (potentially once the next major patch hits after the upcoming LCoG & right after this very pack expires). That means this weapon may be phased out as soon as the new tier drops due to the higher base Attack potentially outweighing the CHC. Critlocks will be using this thing until we get the next CHC Dagger, but most other classes may swap with the new tier.

Superior Pack

Steel-Studded Boots (T14 Light Footwear)
Rockin’ Doubleneck (T14 Instrument)
Power Amp (Indoor Decoration)
Slashed Hat (Avatar Items)
Heavy Metal Floor / Heavy Metal Wall (Flooring / Wallpaper)

Blueprints

From a crafting perspective

Steel-Studded Boots is the only item in this pack that uses all five materials. Essence cost is a bit high at 9, but it drops to 7 on the Mastery track. The Sigil can be Ascended off which is nice. If you’ve been crafting a lot of Lilu’s Starfall lately, you might call the 5 Astral Fabric that can’t be reduced “Poison”.

For DI, Shoes are typically a pretty bad Misc Armor option as a general rule. Even Voidwalkers which have a really valuable CHC stat are a little low at rank 15. This doesn’t even crack the top 20, so you definitely have better options.

From a Meta perspective

These Kix are a very slight upgrade over Hi-Cardio Shoes. To quote Rei from the Summer Vibes Impackt however, “Good stats for an offensive pair of shoes however they will struggle to outpace Voidwalkers – the 5% crit Voidwalkers have means they’ll essentially dominate the shoe slot until something much heavier hitting lands.” These definitely do not qualify as a much heavier hitter.

From a crafting perspective

Rockin’ Doubleneck also has four materials just like most of the rest of this pack. Essence can drop to 6 with Ascension and every material can be reduced, so this is a fantastic Wood craft (even if the All-Seeing Eye cost is still a bit high after the reduction).

For DI, it’s good but nowhere near as strong as Electrifying Microphone in this same pack. That’s fine though – it’ll go well with all those Guns N’ Roses you’ve got lying around your shop.

From a Meta perspective

Instruments are the best weapon type in the game and this is the new best Instrument, so that makes this one of the best weapons in the game full stop. Artifacts and the occasional other option will be better in some circumstances, but generally anybody who can use this thing wants it (don’t swap if your attacker doesn’t have an Instrument weapon skill of course).

Same caveat about the upcoming tier applies here as well, however. The HP secondary stat means it might stick around slightly longer if you need the extra health (say on a Berserker or something), but this one might also be phased out once T15 hits. Plus if you play it too loudly, your Steel Panther may become a Def Leppard.

Summary

  • Three great packs in a row makes up for the string of “meh” we’ve had lately.
  • Who would have thought Evelyn of all people was a Twisted Sister? I was thinking about Dokken some more points off this pack but that might cause a Quiet Riot. Someone’s sure to Ratt me out. I think there’s a Mötley Crüe forming a Lynch Mob to come get me so I’m going to Shout and go hide on Skid Row.
  • Can you tell a metalhead wrote this one?

Final Score

Mega Pack: 9/10
Superior Pack: 9/10
