Your guide to the gameplay changes in Update 22.0
Obligatory Legal Notice: As part of the Kabam Creator Program we were given the chance to preview the update before it went live which is where the below images and video were taken.
The craft times will look hella long because they’re without advanced research or the guild craft boost running and Zephyr wasn’t exactly a high level (had some points in Just Wing It to help craft.)
Welcome to Update 22.0 where we have the newest worker Zephyr and a content pass to go with her, as well as a few bug fixes.
Video
This guide is also available in video format. They both cover the same topics, pick your preferred medium:
Zephyr the Storm Elemental
Update 22.0 adds the newest premium worker to the game Zephyr the Storm Elemental. She requires you to be level 35 to unlock.

She’s on the more expensive end there in terms of pricing (second only to Roxanne) and brings 2 new item lines with her – Catalysts (a magical weapon line with new animations ) and Idols (a defensive accessory line with a hefty boost to spirits.) Let’s talk about her effect first though.

When you purchase Zephyr you get a new piece of furniture in your inventory called Zephyr’s Altar. This counts towards your rack limit when placed and whilst it can go in the basement it needs to be in your shop to activate Zephyr’s effect. It does also give +5% maximum energy so it’s the kind of thing you’d want taking up a slot anyway.
So what happens when you press activate?
Royalty free music from https://www.FesliyanStudios.com (highly recommend, I use them for many of our videos.)
It increases your customer flow by x3 and raises the cap on how many customers can be in your shop at the same time (this does not however increase the amount that can be at the counter.) It also gives them a movement speed buff so they’re quicker to get around.
Rei Note: they’ll be even faster than what is shown above, the speed has been buffed further since that video was taken.
This effect lasts for 15 minutes before going on an 8 hour cooldown. So long as it’s off cooldown you can use it whenever you want – it’s going to be incredibly fun to use during Better Deals and Haggle.
Rei Note: Whilst I didn’t get a chance to test it with Customer Frenzy first-hand Kabam said it’ll be additive so expect a 4x flow rate if activated during it.
Catalysts
Catalysts are a new weapon line that start at Tier 5. Their special effect is that they have a new visual animation when attacking with them. This is a video of the tier 6 catalyst in action:
Let’s take a look at one:
Nothing unusual here to be seen, it’s your standard crafting costs/milestones/ascension stuff. The line itself doesn’t really have a defined primary/secondary resource pairing unlike usual – it has a slight favouring of Steel but otherwise no consistent pairing as you can see here:
In terms of attack Catalysts are stronger than wands but weaker than instruments1. They have a new bronze mastery skill to go with them and have been added to Adept as their epic skill. The following classes can use them:
- Dark Knight
- Dancer
- Mage
- Druid
- Sorcerer
- Geomancer
- Chronomancer
Rei Note: Whilst this should mean Dark Knight gains access to Adept that wasn’t the case on the preview server and probably won’t make it into this update but will instead be added in a future one.
Rei Note #2: Cause when you think of a class type lacking premium weapons it’s obviously spellcasters.
Rei Note #3: RIP Clerics, missing out once more on a much needed attack boost.
Idols
Idols are the other item line that Zephyr brings with her. They’re an accessory line which also begins at Tier 5 and have a couple of defining characteristics:
- They are dual-stat items (defence and hp)
- The effect of any spirit on them is doubled.
Let’s take a look at one in more detail:
Again we see nothing unexpected here with the crafting costs/milestones/ascension. The line primarily uses Wood/Ironwood for its resource costs though there are the odd ones here and there which don’t obey that.

Tapping the Idol symbol brings up a reminder of what they do:

So whilst this doesn’t double the stats the enchant applies to the item the doubling of the effect is incredibly potent. Here’s some examples of what a spirit on an idol can do, including an example of affinity as well:

The following classes can equip idols:
- Barbarian
- Berserker
- Dark Knight
- Monk
- Wanderer
- Dancer
- Velite
- Mage
- Cleric
- Spellblade
- Chronomancer
Now this would usually be the part where I list what slots it goes in on each class but that’s not something I can answer entirely today.
“Why the heck not Rei?”
Because this is an example of where the preview build and what goes live next week differ.
The classes that could equip idols and the slots they went in have been changed based on feedback the STC team provided during the preview because we were very much facing a druid/quiver situation again for a couple of them (you never equip a quiver on a druid because it takes the spell slot which is far too valuable to give up) and some of the classes that couldn’t equip them can now and vice versa some classes that could no longer can.
Tl;dr: we just don’t know.
Rushing Winds Content Pass
Zepyhr also comes with a new content pass. As usual we’ll start with the new blueprints introduced by the pass:
And then the reward track (a couple swapped around a bit, same rewards just different location on the track):
And last up for the pass, the tasks:
Webstore
A new button has been added to the bottom of the menu that will take you directly to the web store:

This button will get a notification every Thursday at server reset (00:00 utc+0) to remind you about the weekly giveaway available on the site. Saves you having to be pinged on Discord I guess. :P
Miscellanous Changes
- Scroll of Armor’s Air affinity has been moved to Scroll of Storms, correcting a longstanding error.
- Chain Offers, the surprise purchase mechanic added in the last update, has had some bugs fixed.
And that about covers everything. Go forth and speed up your customers today!

Appendix: Precrafts
Only one precraft is involved across the 2 new lines added in this update – the Tier 11 Idol requires normal quality Tier 6 Idols until its 3rd mastery milestone so maybe hold off dismantling them until you get there.
Appendix: Fun Beta Facts
Well, “fun” might not be the right word but whatever :P
- Zephyr’s ability was originally once per day, then once per 8 hours with 30 minutes duration, before arriving at the current once per 8 hours with 15 minutes duration.
- The Tier 10 idol was named/described based on the tower of titans before getting a revamp to be named after the Sunken Temple instead:

$25 for a microtransaction. Yeah, that’s crazy. I’ll save it and spend it on useful things.
I like to call them ‘macrotransactions’ 🥲
Where is the content pass?
Starts on the 2nd October
Where is the best use for idols, besides mages?
