Update 26.2 Overview

Your guide to the gameplay changes in 26.2

Obligatory Legal Notice: As part of the Kabam Creator Program I was given access to a preview build of the update before it went live which is where the below images were taken. As always, values may be changed on the live update.

Introduction

Welcome to 26.2 – home of the next community event, the long requested extra market slots, 8 more spellknight slots, and some other cool stuff.

Pirates vs Ninjas

Pirates vs Ninjas is the next community event which will be running from 6th – 12th March:

Unlike the previous couple of community events this one only has the one reward which will be distributed to everyone presuming the minimum requirement is met. Let’s take a look at the 2 options that are on offer.

If the pirates win the blueprint that will be awarded is the Sip o’ the Sea:

Whereas if the ninjas win the blueprint that will be awarded is the Ninja Smoke Bomb:

Earning points for either team is relatively straightforward:

Note that tiers only applies to the item crafting – the enchants and questing give a fixed amount of points regardless of difficulty chosen/tier of enchant used.

Rei Note: The reason quests and enchants don’t scale pointwise here is because quests don’t really cost anything to send and the game doesn’t currently support a way of knowing what tier of enchant was used for point calculating purposes.

Beachside Showdown Content Pass

A slightly cheaper content pass this time with it costing only 1,000 gems instead of 1,500 gems. There are no new blueprints to cover, it’s all antique content. This is the reward track (note: some of these nodes will be replaced with old prints if you need them, I just happen to own them):

And these are the tasks:

Slots, slots, and more slots

Update 26.2 adds more crafting, hero, quest, and trade slots. The market UI has been slightly reworked to accomodate the new slots (the old setup was a major part in why new market slots couldn’t be added) and now scrolls horizontally:

A few of the existing slots were changed in terms of level requirement/cost to unlock as well. Below are the tables showing the requirements for all slots including the new ones added in this update. Remember you can use gems at any stage if you don’t meet the level requirement/lack the gold:

Crafting Slots

New slots only: 80G or 20k gems.

Hero Slots

New slots only: 340G or 48k gems.

Quest Slots

New slots only: 18G or 25k gems.

Trade Slots

New slots only: 7.5G or 20k gems.

Party Slots

These don’t cost anything or have a requirement, just noting that they also added 2 more team slots for parties:

Mega & Superior Pack Changes

Following a successful trial last year the release system for mega and superior packs is being changed in this update:

  • Mega Packs will run for just 1 week now.
  • Superior Packs will run for 1 week *after* the Mega Pack finishes.
  • You no longer need to buy the mega pack to access the superior pack.

The next mega pack being released will also be trialling a new system where if you do not currently have access to tier 15 you will be offered a slightly lower tier blueprint place of of the tier 15 print at a reduced cost. This should be rolled out in future to all mega packs after update 26.3 but that’s not concrete guaranteed yet.

Miscellaneous Changes

  • The bug with the display counters such as gold and energy updating correctly has been fixed.
  • The red notification symbol that never left the menu has been evicted.

And that about covers it. Go forth and decide if you’ll support the pirates or ninjas in the upcoming event!

Another Patch, Another Pass

Rei Note: Technically not part of the patch but I didn’t want to make a new post just to cover this.

Given that we’re here with another update that is largely just yet another content pass™ we asked Kabam what was up and whether Magic Shop (an in-development title by Kabam Montreal) was having an effect on Shop Titans development. Here’s what we learnt:

  • The ghostbuster collab took up quite a bit of time last year, as well as Kabam undergoing a major internal revamp to help development times and reduce the amount of crunch/deadline rushing they were experiencing. This should mean better quality updates going forwards with less surprise major bugs screwing stuff up.
  • Shop Titans is still the studio’s primary focus and the team for the game has actually expanded in size.
  • The team working on Magic Shop is nearly entirely separate from the team working on Shop Titans. Whilst there is the odd bit of overlap for offering dev and design support it’s usually people from the Magic Shop team moving briefly to the Shop Titans team rather than the other way round.
  • Magic Shop is not releasing any time soon. If you’re thinking “well why did we see ads last year” they were just to gauge interest in what themes the playerbase might be interested in (there was also Space Shop, Fantasy Shop, Survival Shop etc etc.)

We do have the roadmap now showing some very promising updates on the horizon including the long promised update to Tower of Titans. Whilst not every update is going to be containing content (it’s not sustainable for one) things should improve from here on.

Oh, yeah, the long requested extra slots, locked behind loops when there are less than 100 players that even reach the first loop. But hey, you can always pay money to unlock early…

Yeah it’s a bit annoying they put slots behind level loops, especially as when the loop mechanic was added they said they didn’t expect anything material to unlock after level 100 at the time.

It’s a normal progression mechanic to lock upgrades behind levels. Sure u can buy the slots with diamonds to skip leveling. More and more players achieve higher levels so it’s only natural. Finally an Update where I am able to play some months to gain those diamonds free to play cuz I hate leveling, haha xD

Thank you so much for the summary, Reiga! As always, the information is super clear and well-organized. The effort you guys put into ST-Central is much appreciated.
